Who can register on the NIS-NEST database?

What is the registration procedure?

Registration procedure for an organisation

  1. Fill-in your information in the signup form. After submitting it you receive an email with an activation link and a username/password pair.
  2. Click on the activation link. Your account has now been created and verified. You can log-in the database through the login form.
  3. After logging-in, you can add/update your detailed profile. Furthermore, you can add profiles of researchers of your organisation.
  4. In case you lose your password, you can get a new one through the "Recovery Page" page.

Registration procedure for a researcher

  2. Click on the activation link. Your account has now been created and verified. You can log-in the database through the login form.
  3. After logging-in, you can add/update your detailed profile.
  4. In case you lose your password, you can get a new one through the "Recovery Page" page.

Which information is published on the NIS-NEST database?
All information about registered researchers and/or organisations is available to the visitors of the database, except from the email address of registered researchers, which is not displayed for reasons of data protection.
I am a visitor to the NISNEST database. What can I do with it?
You can search/browse the database for researchers and research groups. For every researcher/research group you can view a detailed profile and send an email message through an appropriate form.
I have never registered myself on the NISNEST database, however I have received an email from the address researchers@nisnest.gr saying that an account has been created for me in the database. How did this happen and what shall I do now?
Your profile has been added to the database by your organisation. Now, you shall click on the activation link within the email message. After that, you can login to the database with the username/password included in the email message.
I am a researcher from Eastern European countries. Can I register on the NISNEST database even if my research group/organisation has not registered yet?
Yes, you can freely register with the NISNEST database even if your research group/organisation has not registered yet. You must follow the standard procedure for researcher registration. When adding your profile, specify your organisation name as free text (not selected from the drop-down organisation list). Later, when your organisation registers with the database, you can update your profile to indicate that you belong to it
Can I modify my information on the NIS-NEST database?
Yes. After registering, you receive an email with your username and password, which you can use to enter the database from the login page. All logged-in users are able to change their profiles (e.g., researchers click on “Edit your researcher profile” at the top menu bar).
I want to register my research group on the NISNEST database. My group belongs to an organisation that is already registered in the database. What shall I do?
When adding the profile of your group after registration, from the “Parent Organisation” drop-down list select the name of your parent organisation.
I want to register my research group on the NISNEST database. My group belongs to an organisation that is NOT registered in the database. What shall I do?
When adding the profile of your group after registration, at “Parent Organisation” field check the option “Does not have parent organisation”. Later, when your parent organisation registers with the database, you can update your profile to indicate that your group belongs to it.
I have lost my password. How can I recover it?
In the Account recovery page you can ask for a new password to be sent to you by email. Note that since your password is stored in encrypted form, nobody knows it besides yourself. Thus, in case you lose it, a new one is generated.
Can I change my password?
Yes, the “Account Details” option at the top menu bar leads to a form that enables password modification.
